November 25, 2009, Vancouver, British Columbia: Copper One Inc. (TSX-V: CUO)
With great regret, the Board of Directors of Copper One Inc. informs shareholders and friends that Michael R. Pawlowski, Geologist, President and Director of Copper One Inc. passed away suddenly on November 22, 2009.
Mike Pawlowski had more than 28 years experience in mineral exploration with a particular expertise in porphyry copper oxide systems. He worked with geological, engineering and metallurgical teams around the world to discover and increase the mineral potential of numerous large tonnage copper deposits.
Mike spent 16 years with Phelps Dodge in various positions executing large tonnage copper porphyry drilling projects, growing resources and reserves through his exploration and development expertise. He was involved in the discovery of numerous copper oxide deposits in the Safford and Morenci mining districts and led an exploration/development team on the new Augusta Resources-Rosemont deposit in southern Arizona.
Patrick Highsmith, Chairman of Copper One speaks about Mike, "While I didn't know Mike as long as some of my fellow directors, his energy and passion were inescapable by anyone who spent time with him. He and his team were welcoming and generous in their teamwork. His leadership was understated; and his casual style belied his extraordinary expertise in copper deposits. It was a great pleasure knowing Mike and an honor to be associated with the company he built. On behalf of the Board, I wish to express out deepest condolences to Mike's family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mike will be greatly missed, but his legacy is in good hands. The Board is energized to deliver on his vision for developing new copper oxide deposits in New Mexico and Arizona."
Dan Laux, Mike's business partner and VP Exploration and Director, Copper One remembers, "Mike was responsible for the development of deep open pits in Arizona, but the holes in our hearts upon his loss are going to be even deeper. He was an exceptional son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was kind to all, but there were few who could out-talk him when the discussion turned to geology. Mike was truly blessed to be good at what he loved to do - discovering and developing mines. I look forward to helping complete his dreams for Copper One."
Dr. Lawrence Dick, Director, Copper One, "Mike's knowledge and enthusiasm around the geology and exploration for copper and gold deposits were contagious to his peers. He was a rare breed of geologist whose passion was in the field, hands on, using an encyclopedia-like knowledge of copper and gold deposits to guide his work in the SW United States and world-wide. The geological community has lost a mentor and a gentleman in Mike. He built a solid foundation for Copper One and has left a benchmark against which quality in exploration should be measured."
Paul Cowley, Director, Copper One, "Mike was a giant in the world of porphyry copper deposits particularly in the American southwest. Mike had a brilliant geological mind. He thought big and succeeded big, yet had a genuine humbleness that was unexpected for his stature and credentials. He was true leader and team player as he unselfishly gave his all. It was an utmost pleasure to work with Mike and remains to be, as we dedicate all our efforts to actualize his vision for Copper One."
The company's field operations continue to be ably managed by Dan Laux, our VP Exploration. The Board is in daily contact with Management to ensure a smooth transition.
